I asked around a little bit if anyone had heard anything, I kept it kind of vague. No takers.
This week I decided to spill the tea and just say it.

First the brochure offered inpatient care for elderly people - your relatives who have memory problems. It carefully did not say dementia or Alzheimer’s. They’ll take them off your hands for a little while and fix em right up. Send them home good as new.

It said specifically, *no medicaid* I thought that was interesting that it left off Medicare.
Then it said something like *family members must be at least 18* It said they’d help with *emotional problems and drug addiction* It listed a few other things.
I noticed though that it did not call it treatment as I remember it. And it did not say “patients.” And it did not give time tables for how long this care would take. It inferred ‘weeks.’ And it said ‘they them home’ I don’t remember if it said ‘good as new’ but that is what it inferred.
I looked at the back to see if it listed doctos or treatment providers. It did not. There was a name of a business and it gave the impression of ‘a family owned place.’
The whole thing gave the impression of a place we could almost be comfortable sending our sick, elderly folks to and to top it off it adds emotional problems (not psychological or neurological but it might have said illnesses caused by neuro problems. It listed drug addiction. And like I said there were a few other things I can’t remember. Finally, after all that it said “Must be 18” “No Medicad”
That pretty much covers it. We can come to our own nightmarish conclusions but I will save that for a new thread.

WTF did I look at and why didn’t I keep it!! I’ll answer that by saying the brevity of the thing didn’t sink in right away and I innocently thought “this might help someone and it’s the only one here.” So I sat it back on the table. And damn I can’t remember whose doctor appointment I was at but I had driven someone to an appointment. I do that. For free so far. It’s haunted me ever since.

First time visitor and first time commenter here, so first off I’m saying hello. That hand out is the exact kind of thing my old workplace would have out there - it was a recovery center with a mismanaged mental health program and detox center. I worked in there for almost a year and a half as a BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) before leaving in disgust back in early July with both their labor and treatment practices, and furious with the entire treatment industrial complex - Christina’s description of the handout struck a nerve, as every one of these places use the same exact language and wording she described - “treatment for everything”.
None of them ever accept Medicaid or Medicare, as they claim that “the payouts take too long” while billing people tens of thousands for up to a 3 month stay where I often saw them gaslight people who wanted to leave with threats of financial damage and the risks of relapsing. And every single center out there does this - we BHTs all communicate with each other, or at least those with a working brain. The places might as well be pipelines to Christian Nationalist churches (they all take these people by the dozens to them on Sundays) and right wing causes. A lot of the “therapists” who work in these places I have found to be people who freely integrate the kind of right wing teachings that are only found in the endless number of evangelical churches both in my city (and elsewhere), with more than a few deliberately trying to utilize conversion therapy techniques on LGBTQ patients - and treating them like trash to the point of them leaving “ACA” - against clinical advice - if it’s before their first few weeks there. Many of the other BHTs, mid level managers and nursing staff aren’t any better, expressing contempt for people on the left and openly supportive of anyone in their “care” who loves the regime.
It’s one aspect of all of this that’s never talked about at all, and owners often skew right wing libertarian while skirting any state or federal regulations they can. And they are practically salivating at the prospect of running the kind of camps RFK, Jr. and others Trump has empowered express love for.
Thank you for that experience you shared. Terrifying to think of institutions where everyone with issues and old age get housed there, perhaps unwillingly. That you worked in one is more convincing of the truth about the places and the right leaning folks around you. I’m sorry you had to be in that stew but glad you got out.

Although I was apolitical in my early years I’ve never had the anxiety that builds on a daily basis. I cringe when 2026 elections are discussed because I fear the preparations being made to create a crisis of ANY kind that will result in the cancellation of the election in any means possible. As a recovering alcoholic, since 2009 I am an alcoholic in recovery. 16 years. Not a drop. And 10 of these i was a proud member of the Program of Recovery Alcoholics Anonymous. Sponsorships, 3 day 24 hour meetings at a conference, Retreats for Women in Recovery. I love it and I still live by the principles of the 12 Step program that saved my life.

Two hosts I really like and respect their work used that same derogatory statement in LIVES to describe Hegseth. It was like an unintended stab but it doesn’t describe an alcoholic in or out of recovery.
If you look at hegseths behavior AND sometimes his grooming, you’ll see signs of an alcoholic who is still drinking. A drunk alcoholic stays out of the public eye as much as possible when they drink.
I guarantee you after a few days of not drinking, pulling himself together for the big show in front of astute audiences, he gets off the stage and is headed for that bottle. We won’t see him for a few days.

I’ve been on a rant about what **trumps 2025 replacement of the ACA might look like.** I have gotten “no bites.” It’s understandable. I sound like a crazy person who went down a rabbit hole full of conspirational medicine.
Think about it. He would finally one up Barak Obama’s Crown achievement and replace it with his own perceived crown achievement. Magic cures for, one size fits all, privately owned detention centers oh. I meant to say long term inpatient treatments for everyone from ages 18 - 80.
I didn’t come up with this by myself. I saw a document at a doctors office months ago and damn it! I wish I would have kept it.
It was a tri-fold hand out with some very vague inpatient treatment for everything for everyone ages 18 - 80.
I asked around a little bit if anyone had heard anything, I kept it kind of vague. No takers.
This week I decided to spill the tea and just say it.

First the brochure offered inpatient care for elderly people - your relatives who have memory problems. It carefully did not say dementia or Alzheimer’s. They’ll take them off your hands for a little while and fix em right up. Send them home good as new.
Exhausted Americans taking care of moms and dads and grammas and grampas - sounds like a vacation huh?
It said specifically, *no medicaid* I thought that was interesting that it left off Medicare.
Then it said something like *family members must be at least 18* It said they’d help with *emotional problems and drug addiction* It listed a few other things.
I noticed though that it did not call it treatment as I remember it. And it did not say “patients.” And it did not give time tables for how long this care would take. It inferred ‘weeks.’ And it said ‘they them home’ I don’t remember if it said ‘good as new’ but that is what it inferred.
I looked at the back to see if it listed doctos or treatment providers. It did not. There was a name of a business and it gave the impression of ‘a family owned place.’
The whole thing gave the impression of a place we could almost be comfortable sending our sick, elderly folks to and to top it off it adds emotional problems (not psychological or neurological but it might have said illnesses caused by neuro problems. It listed drug addiction. And like I said there were a few other things I can’t remember. Finally, after all that it said “Must be 18” “No Medicad”
That pretty much covers it. We can come to our own nightmarish conclusions but I will save that for a new thread.
Just the idea that it sounded like a family owned business. Some type of long term treatment,but not THAT long. And the thing says ‘they come home.’
WTF did I look at and why didn’t I keep it!! I’ll answer that by saying the brevity of the thing didn’t sink in right away and I innocently thought “this might help someone and it’s the only one here.” So I sat it back on the table. And damn I can’t remember whose doctor appointment I was at but I had driven someone to an appointment. I do that. For free so far. It’s haunted me ever since.

First time visitor and first time commenter here, so first off I’m saying hello. That hand out is the exact kind of thing my old workplace would have out there - it was a recovery center with a mismanaged mental health program and detox center. I worked in there for almost a year and a half as a BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) before leaving in disgust back in early July with both their labor and treatment practices, and furious with the entire treatment industrial complex - Christina’s description of the handout struck a nerve, as every one of these places use the same exact language and wording she described - “treatment for everything”.
None of them ever accept Medicaid or Medicare, as they claim that “the payouts take too long” while billing people tens of thousands for up to a 3 month stay where I often saw them gaslight people who wanted to leave with threats of financial damage and the risks of relapsing. And every single center out there does this - we BHTs all communicate with each other, or at least those with a working brain. The places might as well be pipelines to Christian Nationalist churches (they all take these people by the dozens to them on Sundays) and right wing causes. A lot of the “therapists” who work in these places I have found to be people who freely integrate the kind of right wing teachings that are only found in the endless number of evangelical churches both in my city (and elsewhere), with more than a few deliberately trying to utilize conversion therapy techniques on LGBTQ patients - and treating them like trash to the point of them leaving “ACA” - against clinical advice - if it’s before their first few weeks there. Many of the other BHTs, mid level managers and nursing staff aren’t any better, expressing contempt for people on the left and openly supportive of anyone in their “care” who loves the regime.
It’s one aspect of all of this that’s never talked about at all, and owners often skew right wing libertarian while skirting any state or federal regulations they can. And they are practically salivating at the prospect of running the kind of camps RFK, Jr. and others Trump has empowered express love for.
Thank you for that experience you shared. Terrifying to think of institutions where everyone with issues and old age get housed there, perhaps unwillingly. That you worked in one is more convincing of the truth about the places and the right leaning folks around you. I’m sorry you had to be in that stew but glad you got out.

Although I was apolitical in my early years I’ve never had the anxiety that builds on a daily basis. I cringe when 2026 elections are discussed because I fear the preparations being made to create a crisis of ANY kind that will result in the cancellation of the election in any means possible. Martial Law , armed conflict or a Scrotus who have destroyed equal branches of government and given free rein to the current malignant regime. All presidents have made some poor choices but this excuse for a corrupt, malignant and incompetent “ president “ is beyond the pale. I pray that my children, grands and great grands will have a chance to live to see our country as it should be.

“The Iron Cage” is rapidly becoming The Iron Curtain. Does anyone remember that? In the late 1980’s I used to go to Bulgaria to study accelerated learning. It was a real eyeopener for a naive American. One out of four people was a police informer. My teacher’s son turned him in and he was almost sent to the Gulag. My Bulgarian friends had to attend weekly brainwashing sessions. The Russians were/are very advanced at mind reading and telepathy although Westerners treat that with skepticism. But back then spying on the populace wasn’t as advanced as it is now. In China, the cameras at the airports and elsewhere are highly tuned to facial recognition which catch the nuances of what people are thinking. Big Brother is watching us everywhere.
