Having recently discovered your substack, I enjoy reading your work. Your writing has provided me with another lens to view the facts on the ground. Sadly, however, I agree with your assessment as much as I wish otherwise.

This shouldn’t be happening and most of us know it. And not sure he and the cabinet he chose should remain. I personally am shocked that impeachment and article 25 are not spoken of more regularly as our Goverment goes off the rails under this leadership. It would take blind people to not see this. This is America! All those military brought to sit and listen know this is not right.

Your work is both timely and essential. You’ve managed to put into context what so many of us struggle to fully grasp—and in doing so, you’ve given clarity to a moment that often feels overwhelming. Thank you for connecting the dots in a way that makes the bigger picture unmistakable

You must have been asleep or still in third grade while the Russia Collusion hoax was launched by Hillary Clinton and pushed forward by Comey and others through the FBI, Department of Justice, the New York AG, the State of Georgia, Jack Smith in Florida and many others all used the law as a hammer to crush Trump. Your lack of self awareness, after all they did to a sitting President is mind boggling. Every single thing you mention they are “doing” to Comey, they did to Trump 20 times over. Comey lied to Congress and was deeply involved in trying to destroy a sitting President. Did you forget all that happened? I don’t think Substack is going to work out for you. Hopefully you didn’t quit McDonalds yet.

Let me ask you a question. This is a list of confirmed facts on Trump campaign connections to Russia. I’ve even listed where several of these claims were admitted to by those involved under oath. None of them are disputed, all were included in either the Mueller Report or the Republican led Senate Intelligence Committee’s findings. These are facts. They happened. What I’d like to know, were you aware of these things?

Confirmed Admissions Under Oath or Guilty Pleas

• Paul Manafort — Admitted in interviews and court filings that he shared internal Trump campaign polling data with Konstantin Kilimnik, identified as linked to Russian intelligence.

• George Papadopoulos — Pleaded guilty under oath to lying to the FBI about contacts with Kremlin-linked intermediaries who told him Russia had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.

• Michael Cohen — Pleaded guilty to lying to Congress under oath about the timeline of Trump Tower Moscow negotiations, which continued into June 2016 while Trump was a candidate.

• Roger Stone — Convicted for lying to Congress under oath about his efforts to coordinate with WikiLeaks regarding the release of emails hacked by Russian intelligence.

• Michael Flynn — Pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak regarding sanctions during the transition period.

• Carter Page — Testified under oath to Congress that he met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich in July 2016 and informed Trump campaign officials about the trip.

• Jeff Sessions — Testified under oath that he had no contacts with Russians during the campaign, later admitted he met Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice in 2016 (though he claimed the meetings were unrelated to the campaign).

---

Other Key Events (Documented but Not Always Admitted Under Oath)

• Trump Tower Meeting (June 2016) — Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort met with a Kremlin-linked lawyer after being promised damaging information on Clinton as part of “Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” Trump Jr. acknowledged this in emails and testimony.

• Felix Sater / Trump Tower Moscow — Negotiations for a Trump Tower in Moscow continued well into the 2016 campaign; Sater and Cohen discussed arranging a trip for Trump to meet Putin.

• Konstantin Kilimnik — Identified as a Russian intelligence officer who received internal campaign data from Manafort.

• WikiLeaks Coordination — Multiple campaign officials, including Stone, sought advance knowledge of email dumps from Russian-hacked sources.

Completely aware as I followed the charade daily. Flynn was set up by Comey at the direction of Obama. All convictions of Trump associates were for crimes like lying to investigators, financial misconduct, or obstruction, not direct evidence of a conspiracy with Russia. And as you are well aware the whole thing started because Obama wanted Hillary in the White House to continue his disastrous agenda. Then good ole Hillary took it upon herself to have Christopher Steele write the completely fabricated “dossier”. Everyone in the DOJ and FBI knew it was fabricated and they used it anyway to spy on the Trump campaign. Mueller took 2 years and over $100 million taxpayer dollars to find nothing on Trump. Hillary on the other hand did in fact sell 1/3rd of our Uranium to Russia as Secretary of State, no doubt making millions on the side. Two sides to every story, but 89% of the country moved right in the last election.

Sorry I missed your earlier comment, I didn’t get the notification because it went to the main thread instead of my reply. What the right has dubbed 'Russiagate', genuinely fascinates me. I’ve even thought about writing a full piece on it, though I suspect it wouldn’t draw much attention now. What strikes me is how fragmented our information ecosystems have become, driven by algorithmic feeds that reward outrage and confirmation bias. People aren’t just disagreeing on interpretation, they’re living in different factual universes.

That’s why claims like the ones you raised are so interesting to unpack. They’re familiar, but they don’t line up with the documented record. And the gap between what happened and what people believe happened says a lot about how our media environment works.

Flynn “set up” claim — There’s no evidence Obama directed Comey to target Flynn. Flynn pleaded guilty voluntarily to lying about his calls with the Russian ambassador. Later procedural debates don’t erase that admission. If there really is no 'there' there, then why did he lie?

Convictions and Russian ties — It’s true most charges were for lying or obstruction, but those lies were about Russia-related activities. That matters. Examples:

Papadopoulos admitted knowing about Russian “dirt” offers.

Flynn admitted lying about Russian ambassador calls.

Cohen admitted lying about Trump Tower Moscow timeline.

Manafort admitted sharing polling data with Kilimnik.

These weren’t random process crimes, they were directly tied to hiding Russia contacts.

Again, the connections to Russia are on the record, under oath and in sworn statements. There not a figment as many on the right suggest.

Trump Tower meeting — Mueller explicitly noted Don Jr. wasn’t charged largely because prosecutors couldn’t prove he understood the law or assign a clear value to the opposition research offered by Russia. That’s not exoneration; it’s a technical barrier to prosecution. He committed a crime, the case would simply have been difficult to prosecute. It's not even that they're arguing no Russia connection, not in court, they're just arguing that Don Jr doesn't know that receiving assistance from a foreign adversary would have been illegal.

Steele dossier — It was standard oppo research, not the basis for the investigation. Crossfire Hurricane was predicated on Papadopoulos’s tip about Russian interference. The dossier became a flashpoint because parts were used in FISA warrants, which had oversight issues, but those flaws were systemic, not unique. The right has inflated its significance far beyond reality. In fact, Crossfire Hurricane began before anyone involved even knew the Steele dossier existed, a fact confirmed under oath.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report (Dec 2019) stated the investigation was opened on July 31, 2016, based on information about George Papadopoulos, not the Steele dossier.

James Comey and other FBI officials testified under oath that the Steele dossier was not part of the predicate for opening Crossfire Hurricane; they only became aware of Steele’s reporting later in the fall of 2016.

The dossier was mostly just talking points for MSNBC, it didn't actually direct or cause any investigations.

Mueller’s scope — The report documented extensive Russian interference and dozens of contacts. Obstruction likely prevented proving conspiracy. Saying “no charges = nothing happened” ignores that obstruction and pardons distorted accountability. It’s like saying the mob boss is clean because his underlings lied and took the fall.

Uranium One — Approved by a multi-agency committee, not a secret Clinton deal. No evidence of personal profit.

Election shift claim — 89% is wildly off. The rightward trend was real but nowhere near that number, and unrelated to Trump-Russia. Economic factors like inflation drove most of that shift. Incumbent parties all over the globe lost ground.

That’s what makes this debate so revealing. It’s not just about what happened in 2016, it’s about how we process reality now. The facts are there, documented under oath, but they compete in an attention economy that rewards narrative over nuance. When the same set of events can be framed as either “a hoax” or “a historic breach,” it tells us something unsettling: the real crisis isn’t just the proven foreign interference by a geopolitical adversary, it’s the fragmentation of truth itself.

Very good article. The problem is that this describes both before and after Comey. Grand juries were designed to protect the innocent. Now, the secrecy is designed to rubber-stamp the government's prosecutions. We need to use open preliminary hearings. No more secrecy since the grand juries' rubber-stamps do not protect the defendant. The prosecution needs no protection, the defendants do. All constitutional rights for criminal defendants are designed to protect them, which is why prosecutors so often try to skirt around constitutional protections. That is also why the courts have weakened the jury sysrem.

For a few of us, your post is the logical conclusion from the actions observed.

For far too many, it’s not even a blip on the radar screen.

For me, it’s just another sign of the acceleration of the ratcheting downward that’s been the goal all along, that I’ve noted step by agonizing step for decades, which when voiced were often met with ridicule, derision, and declarations that I was taking it all “way too seriously”.

Then again, spotting patterns from a set of “on the surface” unrelated data and events isn’t an inherent strong suit with most of the population. It is, however one of the few “gifts” my Aspberger’s has provided amidst the sea of other difficulties that have come along for the ride.
