Or perhaps, more accurately, that there is no real difference between what we perceive as the physical world, and what we perceive as the non-physical world. For example, Newton’s laws of motion work equally well on social groupings, and even on thoughts. An idea gains credence by being repeated consistently. It can only be stopped by an idea of equal and opposite force, repeated just as frequently. Why does anyone think Trump repeats his lies so often? It’s not just to hear himself talk, though he does appear to enjoy that. It’s to reinforce the points he’s making so that his base continues to believe his lies.
If you mean computationally, it depends on the protocol. But if you mean human nodes—the minimum memory required is just enough shared friction to establish trust. Once two sovereign actors survive a high-friction event together, the gravity locks in, and the network connection is permanent.
The Laws of Thermodynamics cannot be revoked or ignored. They govern the Universe, and Corporeal$ trying to violate them -- such as promoting Endless Growth to make Billionaire$ and Bank$ter$ and other Fascist or Cultist-Religionist Corporeal$ even wealthier without ever going to jail for their crimes against Humanity with Endless War and WarMongering!

The astrophysics makes the metaphor vivid: stability doesn’t always come from tighter control, but sometimes from allowing a system to find its own balance. I mean pragmatically, to decentralize/chaos touch an ai system... what is the ask. Generally 'giving hell' is good, removing ai from rust control sounds like solid plan, at least on the surface. Esp if we can use systems we already have. Stronger together n all.
