We can't get the raw data back. So instead, we take the machine. We classify foundational AI as a Common Carrier public utility. If they used the public commons to build the engine, the public gets unrestricted access to the keys.
And looking at the quote you posted—you absolutely get it. The Rust wants everyone to think of the machine as a cheat code so they can keep a monopoly on the scale of human thought. The second we reject the classist gatekeeping and realize this is a collaborative partnership, their walls come down.
