They aren't going to live in them, and they aren't going to improve them. They are going to bundle the deeds into Wall Street bonds, outsource the pricing to a cartel algorithm, and turn the families in our neighborhood into permanent subscription-service serfs.
Please be less cryptic. Is “The Rust” a stand-alone, administrative entity or is it a slang term to encompass a multiplicity of bad actors RE: electronic communications?

The Rust isn't a single corporation, but if you want to see it at work, look at private equity firms buying up single-family homes in your neighborhood. Look at the billing algorithms dictating what your doctor is allowed to prescribe you. Those are the gears. The Rust is the engine running them.

Please learn how to utilize those laws b/c our collective humanity need you to do that not only for yourselves, but the rest of us, too. WE all pay for internet services, those services are now being used to capitalize our participation in this monstrosity that has been created to spy on us non-stop WITHOUT our consent nothwithstanding their convoluted service agreements for totally intrusive advertising, sound and camera snooping. If nothing else turn them off on your devices. Slap a piece of heavy tape over the camera - these things are NOT toys so treat them as the weapons they really are. Learn about your devices, how to turn things off - I'm currently learning about alternative systems that are safer and more private and it's gonna take a while to process the info and look into other hardware I might need. Learn about meshnet for emergencies via hand-helds etc. LEARN TO SAY NO! Be proactive for yourselves and take the initiative to help other's learn as you go along. Ethan, take good care of yourself. Carol, thank you for the massive support. You are absolutely right that the first step is realizing we are in a cage and saying NO to the enclosure.
But remember, the Cathedral doesn't even need to look through our webcams anymore. The extraction is much deeper. They don't need to physically watch us because they are farming our clicks, our behavior, and our attention directly from the feed to build their AI models. The tape over the camera is a good instinct, but we can't just hide from the technology.
Retreating submits that we will never be the status quo. We can't concede the war by just hiding off-grid. Our real weapon is the Data Commons. We have to demand that these foundational AI models, which are built on our stolen data, are classified as public utilities and Common Carriers. We don't just turn our devices off. We fight to take the infrastructure back.
